The person who came up with the brand name for a Nimrod binocular harness is someone I would love to meet. Brand names are supposed to instill confidence in people. The Nimrod binocular harness brand does not. Their connotations should bring up things like happy childhood memories or warm apple pie. What I remember from my childhood is my father calling people nimrods as a form of calling them stupid.

Now it’s not to say that just because this name has been used as slang for stupid, that it’s stupid to get a Nimrod binocular harness. It does, however, raise some questions. Sure words have often times had more than one meaning. A very relavent example would include the word, “gay.” Thirty years ago, it meant to be happy. The name is not the best choice for those who are trying to look classy, but what’s in a name?
