This is the story of a person whose life changed forever thanks to the invention of the camera body harness.

So I was taking my kids to the zoo the other day and I realized that I am short about five more sets of hands. From wiping noses to opening snacks to pulling children away from the tiger cage, I was exhausted. You just can’t push a stroller, hold kids’ hands, carry food and stay sane for all that long.

What am I, superman?

The worst part is that for the first half of the day, I missed some great picture ops thanks to the fact that my camera was buried deep in my stroller as my neck could no longer bear the burden. Sure, it’s just a camera; it weighs about the same as a book. Well, you try holding the weight of a simple book on your neck and you’ll know what I’m talking about. The question is, was it worth it to miss out on catching the priceless moments on film because I didn’t want to feel neck pain for the next week and a half?

I guess we’ll never know.

What’s great, though, is that I ran into my old friend at the zoo and when she asked me why I didn’t have my camera at arm’s length, I proceeded to tell her my agonizing camera woes. She laughed and pointed to her camera body harness- and suddenly, birds began to sing. A camera body harness? I had never heard of such a thing.

What is a camera body harness?

A camera body harness an ingenious little device that puts the camera on the body and takes the weight off the next. It straps around the shoulders instead of the neck. It’s really quite fantastic. Take a look at the video below to see where I found out more about my new favorite accessory – the camera body harness.
